Description:

The project comprises of two flagship programs: the Transparent Judicial Appointments Initiative and the American Judges for Bulgaria Network. The Transparent Judicial Appointments Initiative is a public scrutiny tool for performance evaluation of candidates for important judicial appointments. The initiative strengthens judicial independence and accountability by promoting policies for merit-based judicial performance and career promotion.

The American Judges for Bulgaria Network will promote American practices in managing the judicial branch. It will open a channel for direct communication between American judges and their Bulgarian colleagues. The program will facilitate the emergence of a community of legal professionals who discuss problems, exchange ideas and endeavor towards an accountable and efficient judiciary.
